{"id":475,"date":"2015-05-27T18:59:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T01:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/?p=475"},"modified":"2015-05-27T19:11:41","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T02:11:41","slug":"grove-of-the-patriarchs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/?p=475","title":{"rendered":"Grove of the Patriarchs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After our <a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/?p=477\">unexpected adventure on Saturday<\/a> we took it a lot easier on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>We hiked the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wta.org\/go-hiking\/hikes\/grove-of-the-patriarchs\">Grove of the Patriarchs Loop<\/a> in the Mount Rainier National Park. It\u2019s less than 1.5 miles and has about 50 feet of elevation gain. And the trail is wide and flat:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2819.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_2819\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_2819\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2819_thumb.jpg\" width=\"164\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trees, while no match for Sequoias or Redwoods, were pretty cool. Some were 1000+ years old.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2831.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_2831\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_2831\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2831_thumb.jpg\" width=\"164\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As is usual in much of Western Washington there was a lot of moss:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2821.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_2821\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_2821\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2821_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There was a cute little bridge to cross:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2823.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_2823\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_2823\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2823_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And much of the trail was what we considered \u201cjust about our level\u201d after the previous day of exertion:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2835.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_2835\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_2835\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2835_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was kind of interesting.
