{"id":844,"date":"2016-05-08T07:30:13","date_gmt":"2016-05-08T14:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/?p=844"},"modified":"2016-05-09T08:33:18","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T15:33:18","slug":"joe-and-barbs-unexpected-bonus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/?p=844","title":{"rendered":"Joe and Barb&rsquo;s unexpected bonus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barb and I went on a walk to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wta.org\/go-hiking\/hikes\/poo-poo-point-chirico-trail\">Poo Poo Point via Chirico Trail<\/a> yesterday.It was a little more elevation gain than we wanted (1760 ft.). But it was supposed to have a nice view at the top. The weather was nice so we decided to go for it. We figured we should leave the house before 9:00 AM to be able to get parking easily.<\/p>\n<p>We <em>arrived<\/em> at the parking lot about 8:15 to find the lot full and the sides of the road filled with cars. \u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d <em>[Grumble, grumble]<\/em> We found a place a couple hundred yards away that let us park for $5.00. <em>[Grumble, grumble]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We were at the trail head at 8:27 and saw people with radios who explained this was the landing zone for paragliders and to not dilly-dally around as we cross the zone. <em>[Grumble, grumble]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The hike was more than I was really prepared for. I got winded easily and sweat profusely even though the temperature was in the low 60s. There were a lot of people on the trail. <em>[Grumble, grumble.]<\/em> It was a nice trail though:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/WP_20160507_10_05_51_Pro__highresAdjusted.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"WP_20160507_10_05_51_Pro__highresAdjusted\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"WP_20160507_10_05_51_Pro__highresAdjusted\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/WP_20160507_10_05_51_Pro__highresAdjusted_thumb.jpg\" width=\"274\" height=\"484\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stopped to rest many times and it took us an hour and 45 minutes to make it to the top.<\/p>\n<p>It <em>was<\/em> a nice view. It was a <em>very nice<\/em> view:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_5587.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_5587\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_5587\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_5587_thumb.jpg\" width=\"644\" height=\"431\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But there were <em>all these people<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_5594.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_5594\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_5594\" src=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_5594_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh. They were launching paragliders from here! Cool! This is about a quarter of a mile from where we saw them launching. Both sites are used depending on the wind conditions:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/joehuffman.org\/formaddy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/WP_20160507_10_51_23_Pro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"WP_20160507_10_51_23_Pro\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;
